Honeyguide birds and honey farmers in Africa share a rare and remarkable relationship. Using a distinctive call taught to them by their ancestors, the farmer calls out to the honeyguide which responds by leading the farmer to bee hives hidden in the trees. The farmer harvests the hives for honey, exposing grubs which become a meal for the honeyguide. It’s a story of mutualism which rings true for us at Honeyguide Solutions.
